I am getting fed up of thinking of meals to eat and then cooking and serving them. Adding boiling water to a plastic tub of flavored noodles is a lot easier but I am running out of flavors for a truly balanced diet.
A long time ago, I went camping, with school. We shared meals, though the instructors did most of the cooking – probably just as well, even though they put up a notice saying that if you couldn’t smell burning, it must be salad for tea.
The actual food that was served is long forgotten but the meals were good fun. And maybe a meal sharing group would be good to belong to. Not a “ladies who lunch” but a small group of foodies, or at least good eaters, going out together to visit a restaurant or hotel for a gourmet meal, wine and good discussion. How much reviewing of food and wine would be done is debatable, as would every other subject, including anyone who wasn’t present! I am not sure that this is what is meant by meal sharing groups but I have no intention of cooking extra food to share with someone else, even if I get a meal in return. That’s no fun.
But could I join one for eating out every day of the month? Probably a bit expensive, though it would be fun to try and I would be able to justify at least part of the expense as there would be no cooking, no purchasing food and no dishwasher electricity bills.
I suppose I could always try a meal delivery service, hopefully, it would be fully cooked and hot, not the raw ingredients I would have to cook! Of course, there are plenty of meal delivery services available, with pizza, Chinese, Indian and many other fast food outlets sending food out at any time of the day or night. But I wonder if I could get one of my local restaurants to send around a meal a couple of days a week? Now that would be a meal I wouldn’t mind sharing!
